$10m Saudi Gaming Charity Event Smashes its Own Record

Gamers Without Borders, Saudi Esports Federation’s COVID-19 fundraiser, has been a resounding success where the event managed to break its own records set last year.

The event started off on June 7th, and since then it managed to welcome gamers from 77 countries to more than 164,000 online matches. The Elite series, which united 450 global superstars from esports, sports and entertainment to play for the $10m charity prize pool, hosted some of the most exciting matches in games like FIFA 21, CSGO, Fortnite, PUBG Mobile, Rainbow Six Siege and Rocket League. These events drew more than 136.6 million online streams, with an enormous global audience tuning in for in excess of 25.3 million hours so far.

The $10m charity prize money was donated to support vaccine distribution in the world’s most vulnerable nations through organizations including UNICEF, Gavi, Direct Relief, KSA Relief, and the International Medical Corps.

The event also saw a remarkable number of players registration and play matches within its tournaments and competitions. 352k people registered, and 342k gamers played 164k matches on titles including FIFA 21, Call of Duty, Fortnite, PUBG MOBILE and Tom Clancy’s Rainbow Six: Siege.

The community tournaments have covered more than 847 marathon tournaments, from which there have been winners from 85 different countries, all together winning prizes worth almost $580,000.

Nicky Romero Kickstarted GWB 2.0

Superstar DJ/producer Nicky Romero was the headline act of Gamers Without Borders’ second edition’s official launch concert.

The concert was streamed live on the Gamers Without Borders’ YouTube, Facebook and Twitch channels, the free-to-watch gig achieved a whopping 338.7 Million views for the festival kick off. The virtual concert was celebrated by users from across the globe and marked the opening of the $10 Million charity Esports festival’s elite series.

The popular Dutch DJ is one of the most influential artists of his time, who has led at the forefront of dance music over the last decade.

Superstars and social media take over

Gamers Without Borders’ elite series tournaments have also hosted a roster of A-list celebrities to its live stream broadcast from its incredible virtual studio, including Ronaldinho, Sergio Ramos, Anthony Joshua, Jesse Lingard and Dele Alli.

Featuring the celebrities and stars has contributed to a total of 5.1 Billion reach on all social media platforms.

We made sure to connect, inspire and entertain the international gaming community to guarantee we leave no one behind in supporting the world’s ongoing recovery from COVID-19,” said His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Sultan, chairman of organizers the Saudi Esports Federation. “We were keen to gather around the biggest names, elite teams and most popular game titles globally to motivate and delight fans from all around the world. It was important to us to emphasize on the fact that the festival is open for all – regardless of the nationality or background of our fans to unite players in gaming and esports as a positive force for good.”

“With the help of our fans and partners, we were able to smash our own record with phenomenal reach and a huge number of participants and create a lot of noise for our mission to leave no one behind and do what we can to get much-needed COVID-19 vaccines distributed in the world’s most vulnerable nations,” he added.
