23 PS Plus Extra, Premium PS5, PS4 Games for October 2022 Announced

Sony has announced the 23 new PS Plus games coming to the PS Plus Extra and PS Plus Premium tiers. These accompany the trio of PS Plus Essential titles already available, which include Hot Wheels Unleashed (PS5, PS4), Injustice 2 (PS4), and SUPERHOT (PS4). Remember, you can find a full list of All PS Plus Games through the link.

The lineup is as follows:

PS Plus Extra

PS Plus Premium

That’s a total of 23 games across the two tiers, which isn’t to be sniffed at – although we suspect PS Plus Premium subscribers may be feeling short-changed, considering there are no PS1, PS2, or PSP classics yet again. Nevertheless, all of the games will be available to download – or, indeed, stream if you subscribe to the highest tier – from Tuesday, 18th October, 2022.

It should be noted that Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: India, Assassin’s Creed Chronicles: Russia, and Assassin’s Creed Syndicate will only be playable on PS4. The latter specifically has some performance issues in PS5 backwards compatibility, although Ubisoft did indicate that it was looking into fixing them.

Despite this, all in all, we’d argue it’s a pretty strong month for PS Plus Extra, although as alluded to above it’s a bit disappointing for PS Plus Premium members. In terms of highlights, we reckon Dragon Quest XI S is utterly essential if you’re a fan of JRPGs: “Dragon Quest XI S has only served to solidify our opinion that this is one of the best Japanese RPGs ever made,” we beamed in our 9/10 review.

Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, now running at 60fps with PS5 backwards compatibility, is another title we’d strongly recommend: “With a gameplay loop that simply never stops giving, Ubisoft’s recreation of ancient Greece is an amazing achievement, and in some ways, a genuine step forward for open world game design,” we said in our 8/10 review.

While not everyone loved it, we also had high praise for The Medium when it eventually released on PS5: “The Medium is undeniably a fantastic horror game,” we wrote in our 8/10 review. “For fans of the genre, this game gets an easy recommendation.” And while there may be criticism of PS Plus Premium, you really can’t go wrong with any of the Yakuza games.
