The console iteration of epic strategy game Humankind has been delayed indefinitely, with developers running into “some unique challenges” that have caused the title to be delayed “until further notice.”
Humankind was initially set to release on both the PS5 and PS4 next month on November 4th, so the delay comes as a bit of a surprise. We have news from publisher Sega, who announced that a. Announced the delay in Press releaseWhich read in part: “We apologize for the inconvenience but can rest assured that SEGA Europe, Amplitude Studios and Aspyr are working hard to provide players with the best possible human experience for consoles. Can’t give a timeline on a release date. Now, but as soon as we’re in a position to do so, we’ll let everyone know and we thank the community for their continued support and understanding.”
In the grand tradition of 4X strategy games, the goal in Humankind is to explore, expand, exploit, and eliminate your way to victory. What sets Mankind apart from contemporaries like Civilization VI is that instead of choosing a civilization to play as, you choose aspects of real-world cultures and build your own in the process. This may have meant combining the law codes of the Babylonians with the naval dominance of the Phoenicians, supported by an army trained in the manner of Roman legionaries.
