‘Elden Ring’ delayed but players will have an early look at hyped game | Lifestyles

Bandai Namco will now release Feb. 25, 2022, instead of the original release date of Jan. 21.

Fans of the eagerly anticipated FromSoftware game “Elden Ring” received some good news and bad news this week. First the bad news: Bandai Namco is delaying the release of action role-playing game by five weeks. Instead of the original launch date of Jan. 21, 2022, “Elden Ring” will come out Feb. 25, 2022.

On the other hand, the good news for players is that “Elden Ring” will have a Closed Network Test from Nov. 12 to 14. According to Bandai Namco, “selected fans” will be able to experience the opening hours of the project and get a hands-on look at the title from “Dark Souls” creator “Hidetaka Miyazaki” and George R.R. Martin of “Game of Thrones” fame. The text will allow the team to examine how the game’s online serves will hold up. As for the delay, Bandai Namco said: “The depth of the game and the degree of freedom in strategy exceeded the initial expectations, hence it has been decided to extend the development time for final adjustments.”

It’s not too long of a wait in an already crowded 2022. If five weeks is what’s needed to polish the project, then it should be no big deal.

After the disastrous launch of “Cyberpunk 2077,” it appears that developers and publishers are extra careful to stomp out bugs that hurt the experience.

The Closed Network Test will be available for PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S in the following time blocks:

Nov. 12: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET

Nov. 12: 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Nov. 13 ET

Nov. 13: 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. ET

Nov. 14: 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. ET

Nov. 14: 10 p.m. to 1 a.m. Nov. 15 ET

The Closet Network Test also includes crossplay between console generation meaning that PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5 players can co-op together and Xbox One and Xbox Series X|S gamers can go adventuring as a group. According to the news release, players can sign up for a chance to participate at www.eldenring.com/cnt.
