Battlefield Portal: All the maps, weapons, Vehicle, Characters and other information you need to know

There is a lot to choose from when it comes to DICE’s Battlefield 2042’s all-out combat game modes and its ambitious battle royale-style scenario Hazard Zone. Battlefield Portal, a unique experience that combines parts of past Battlefield games with content from Battlefield 2042, is the most anticipated new addition to this year’s Battlefield games.

Check out our comprehensive guide to Battlefield Portal, which covers everything from what it is to when you may play it.

What is the Battlefield Portal?

With the Battlefield Portal, gamers may create their own unique Battlefield multiplayer experiences in Battlefield 2042 and the Battlefield website. Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042 are all included in the Portal’s game modes, allowing gamers to create their own unique gameplay experience. Using Portal, everything from jet and WWII fighter plane dogfights to modern Russian and Nazi forces engaged in a battle may be staged. Combined with the rest of the game’s content, Battlefield 2042’s Portal could be one of the best Xbox shooters ever made.

Battlefield Portal servers are not available for people to join, unlike Battlefield 2042’s all-out warfare modes. For now, gamers will be able to choose from a list of community servers. Using the Battlefield Portal tool on the Battlefield website, gamers will be able to design their own unique gameplay experience. Their experience can then be loaded into a server that they can host.

Battlefield Portal: Maps and modes

For the Battlefield Portal experience, players will be able to choose from 13 various Battlefield 2042 maps – seven from the main experience and six remastered ones from prior Battlefield games. The following are among them:

Hourglass

Discarded

Manifest

Kaleidoscope

Orbital

Breakaway

Renewal

Battle of the Bulge

El Alamein

Arica Harbor

Valparaiso

Caspian Border

Noshahr Canals

Additionally, there are smaller versions of these maps that are better suited for smaller game modes, such as LAN parties. Instead of showcasing the entirety of the map, these smaller variations focus on only a few regions. The following are among the things they have to offer:

Discarded: Recycling Yard

Hourglass: Al Salam Park

Breakaway: Platform

Kaleidoscope: Data Center

Manifest: Caju Operations

Orbital: Crawlerway

Renewal: Fields

Battle of the Bulge: St. Vith

Arica Harbor: Town

Valparaiso: Village

El Alamein: Axis Airfield

Noshahr Canals: Container Area

Caspian Border: Gas Station

Players on Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PlayStation 5, and PC will only be able to access full-sized maps in Battlefield 2042. There are two versions of the above maps, one that can accommodate up to 128 players, and one that can only be played on servers with a 64-player limit for Xbox One and PlayStation 4 players.

In terms of game modes, players will be able to select from the following modes when creating their Battlefield Portal experience:

  • Conquest
  • Conquest Large
  • Rush
  • Free-For-All
  • Team Deathmatch

You’ll also be able to alter the settings of these game types on your server to your liking. Rush and Conquest players will be able to choose the game time and the Reinforcement Multiplier as well as how many reinforcements are removed every kill, the Per-Squad Character limit (up to 4), and the rules for Squad Spawning.

Team Deathmatch and Free-For-All will also have their own set of mode-specific sliders and toggles that you can adjust, though we don’t know any specifics right now.

Battlefield Portal: Factions and characters

Following the selection of your map rotation and game style, the following step is to select the factions and characters that will be featured in your Battlefield Portal experience. If selecting a faction from Battlefield 1942, players can choose from the United States, the United Kingdom, or Germany; otherwise, the United States and Russia will be accessible in Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042.

Depending on the factions you choose, the weaponry, vehicles, and gadgets accessible to each team will differ. It’s not possible to equip a Battlefield 3-era American team with World War II weapons.

The classes (or Battlefield 2042 Specialists) that players can choose from each time they spawn can be selected once the factions for each team have been selected.

Battlefield Portal: Weapons, vehicles, and more

It’s now time to pick out the weapons, weapon attachments, vehicles, and gadgets that players will be able to use in the game.

Over 75 weapons from Battlefield 1942, Battlefield: Bad Company 2, Battlefield 3, and Battlefield 2042 will be supported upon launch. All weapons from previous Battlefield games will be available to all players by default, although many of Battlefield 2042’s weaponry must be gained through rank-ups before they can be used. Since one of your Battlefield Portal teams will be representing a team from the Battlefield 2042 era, you must allow players to start the game with at least one of the game’s default weapons.

Weapon attachments from both Battlefield 2042 and prior Battlefield games can also be swapped out during gameplay in the Battlefield Portal. It’s possible to restrict which attachments are available in your Battlefield Portal experience. It’s possible to omit a specific sight from your server, for example, so that no one can use it on their sniper rifles.

Battlefield 2042 plus is enabled by default, but you may disable it to force players to switch attachments on their Deploy Screen before they spawn.

In the same way that you can control which weapons and attachments can be used, you can also control which vehicles can be used in your server. As an example, you can design it such that just one kind of vehicle can be spawned, or you can eliminate a kind of vehicle from the battlefield (looking at you, mobile anti-aircraft).

As a last option, you can select which devices are available in each game. It is possible to make everyone employ rocket launchers, limit the use of grenade launchers, and more.

“rules editor” feature in Battlefield Portal allows developers to employ strong scripting functions while designing and updating Portal settings. If you want to fine-tune your Portal experience beyond what you can do with Portal’s regular sliders and checkboxes, the rules editor may be able to help.
