EA has reportedly greenlit a new Fight Night game

A new entry into EA’s popular Fight Night boxing game series has reportedly been greenlit and has entered early development.

According to a report from reliable insider Tom Henderson over at VGC, sources with knowledge of EA’s plans have said that a new Fight Night game, codenamed ‘Moneyball,’ is currently in early development. However, the game is “likely several years from release” as EA Canada has decided to pause the game’s development to prioritise the next EA Sports UFC game, which is planned to launch in late 2022.

In a studio-wide email seen by VGC, EA Canada reportedly told its staff that the new Fight Night game’s development would be temporarily paused in favour of EA Sports UFC 5 as the studio didn’t want to split its senior developers between UFC 5 and the new Fight Night title. Unfortunately, not much else is known about the project.

The last entry into the Fight Night series was Fight Night Champion, which launched for the Xbox 360 ten years ago. If VGC’s report does turn out to be accurate, let’s hope EA decides not to include insane achievements such as Squat Thrusting or those ridiculous online belt achievements from Fight Night Round 4.
