Tarleton’s fall sports are officially over as of Saturday, and for the short while, it will be just the basketball programs in action.
There are four games this week, two for each of the men’s and women’s basketball teams. There are three road games leading up to Thanksgiving, with the lone home game scheduled for Saturday. The men get things started Monday night at North Dakota State. The following day, the women will play at the College of Charleston. On Wednesday, the Tarleton men’s basketball team will face top-20 ranked Michigan in Ann Arbor. On Saturday, the Tarleton’s women’s basketball team plays host to Western Illinois.
TEXAN MBB keeps their tough stretch going of starting the year against some of the best teams in the nation with road games at North Dakota State and Michigan. The Texans will face the Bison at 7 p.m. CT on Monday at Scheels Arena in Fargo, North Dakota. This will be the first matchup between North Dakota State and Tarleton in any sport. The Bison are 2-2 this season, owners of a 30-6 record in home games since 2018. NDSU is ranked No. 24 in the CollegeInsider.com Mid Major Top-25. On Wednesday, Tarleton faces its second opponent ranked in the AP top-20 in No. 20 Michigan in Ann Arbor at 8 p.m. CT. The Wolverines were a 1-seed in the 2021 NCAA Tournament. They are 3-2 this season, losing their last game against Arizona. The Texans are 1-3 coming off of a 69-42 win against Paul Quinn in their home opener. Monte Gipson leads the team in scoring at 15.3 points per game, nearly owning a 50/40/90 split at 53.3/40.0/87.5.
TARLETON WBB is riding a three-game winning streak and owns a 3-1 record thus far in 2021-22. The Texans just posted a 43-point win over Howard Payne on Saturday and outscored their last three opponents by a combined 83 points. They hit the road to open their week with a Tuesday matchup against the College of Charleston at 6 p.m. CT. The Cougars are a perfect 3-0 this year with wins over Wofford, Pfeiffer, and Norfolk State. The Texans will host Western Illinois on Saturday at 2 p.m. CT. It will mark Tarleton’s first “D1 vs. D1” non-conference home game. The Leathernecks are 3-1 this year, their lone loss coming at Notre Dame in their season opener. In the Texans’ last game, Iyana Dorsey had her 2021-22 breakout performance with a career-high 23 points – 18 of which came in the first half – on 7-of-15 shooting in just 18 minutes. She now leads the team at 10.3 PPG.

THE AIRWAVES of the Tarleton Sports Network will be quieter than usual this week, with no scheduled shows, due to it being the week of Thanksgiving.

Student tickets are available for free to Tarleton students from any campus with a valid university ID number but must be ordered in advance at TarletonSports.com/tickets.
