How MLB The Show 22 crossplay for PlayStation, Xbox and Switch works

MLB The Show 22 comes out soon and PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch fans will be happy with its crossplay and cross platform multiplayer status as well as cross-progression.

This is one of the most exciting games coming out next month alongside Lego Star Wars The Skywalker Saga. It kicks off the annual sports titles for 2022 with Madden and FIFA still to come, and there’s lots of excitement because of last year’s fantastic entry.

While the game is lots of fun on your own, it’s even better with friends and the good news is that you can play with mates regardless of system.

Is MLB The Show 22 crossplay?

MLB The Show 22 is crossplay and has cross platform multiplayer between PlayStation, Xbox, and even Nintendo Switch.

This was confirmed in a trailer uploaded to the Sony San Diego YouTube account on March 16th. Although there is cross platform multiplayer between all systems, there are features exclusive to PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The PS5 obviously benefits from the DualSense controller’s haptic feedback along with Tempest 3D AudioTech. In addition, the next-gen PlayStation and Xbox consoles will also be able to play 60 FPS and dynamic 4K resolution.

Lastly, next-gen versions of the game also boast Stadium Creator. This is an exclusive feature and therefore not on PS4, Xbox One, or Switch (via the game’s FAQ).

How cross-progression works

In addition to crossplay and cross platform multiplayer, MLB The Show 22 also has cross-progression for PlayStation, Xbox, and Nintendo Switch.

Per the game’s FAQ, you will need to create a series’ account and link all your primary PlayStation Network, Xbox Live and Nintendo Online profiles. Click here to create your account if you haven’t played the series before.

Provided you’ve done the above, you can then just log into said account on another system and immediately pick up your last save. Just so you know, you will need to buy the game on other systems and there is no free next-gen upgrade.

If you buy the Standard edition for either PS4 or Xbox One, you will need to pay $10 to upgrade to a PS5 or Series X copy.
