Discord allows PlayStation gamers to link their PSN account, but the app and voice chat is not available on PS4 and PS5 whereas it is coming to Xbox.
It’s an exciting time for Sony players. The purrfect cat game, Stray, is available at no additional cost for PS Plus Extra and Premium subscribers, meanwhile the PS Plus Essential August 2022 free games will be revealed next week.
While the changes to PS Plus have been great so far, players are hoping for more from Sony’s partnership with Discord.

Is PlayStation getting Discord voice chat?
PlayStation gamers can link their PSN account to Discord, but Sony hasn’t confirmed if PS4 and PS5 consoles are getting the app and voice chat.
The lack of app and voice chat is frustrating for Sony gamers as it is coming to Xbox. It is already available for Xbox Insider subscribers, but it will be made available to all Xbox gamers soon.
As for Sony, they announced a partnership with Discord back in May 2011. Their statement said that their goal is to bring the PlayStation and social media experiences closer together on mobile and console starting early 2022.
The statement also says that Sony made a minority investment. It’s true that Sony has integrated the two experiences as a connection was made in February this year, but it does not have voice chat unlike Xbox.
How to link PS4 and PS5 profile
Follow the below steps to link your PlayStation Network profile for PS4 and PS5 to Discord:
- Open your Discord profile
- Select user settings (the gear icon next to your name)
- Click Connections
- Select PlayStation Network
- Enter your PlayStation profile email address and password
Once you’ve done the above, you then have two options to enable:
- Display on profile
- Display PlayStation Network as your status

Unfortunately, this is as far the integration goes right now. All it basically does is allow your Discord friends to see what you’re playing on PlayStation.
