A Grand Theft Auto Online player is almost kidnapped while afk after another player backs into them, knocking them into the back of a van.
Way back in 2013, Grand Theft Auto Online went live on the PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360. The game was later ported to the PlayStation 4, PlayStaton 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series X, and the PC. Despite having launched nearly 9 years ago, Grand Theft Auto Online still maintains a strong player base with gamers who continue to have bizarre interactions with one another to this day.
The worlds of Grand Theft Auto always have unexpected surprises in them. Even back in the days of Grand Theft Auto: Vice City, NPCs would sometimes walk up to the player and steal their car from them before driving off, leaving the player angry and confused. That AI quirk has continued well into the modern games, and players often share their bizarre NPC encounters online. In one instance, for example, a valet snapped and stole a bus from a Grand Theft Auto Online player at the Diamond Casino and Resort. However, the strangest interactions often come with other real life players.
In one instance, a Grand Theft Auto Online player sniped another while in a helicopter and still doesn’t understand how they did it. In a more recent example, Reddit user MidnightTopher was away from their keyboard and was almost kidnaped by another player. In this instance, the player opted to put MidnightTopher in the back of their van through an unexpected means.
In the video, MidnightTopher is wearing a bizarre alien outfit that caused them to stand out. The other player attempted to run over the Reddit user by backing into them, but by some insane luck, the MidnightTopher ended up in the back of the driver’s van. As the driver hit the gas, MidnightTopher fell out of the back of the van, escaping the kidnapping. In a similar instance, a player attempted to kill another Grand Theft Auto Online player who was afk with some unexpected results
Since Grand Theft Auto Online launched, it has reportedly earned Rockstar over $6 billion through DLC sales and in game purchases, making it one of the most profitable pieces of media ever. The company’s attention has begun to shift toward the development of Grand Theft Auto 6, but recent GTA Online releases indicates that the company isn’t quite done with it. The game was made available on the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X in early 2022, and the Criminal Enterprises update was recently released, indicating that fans will be seeing odd interactions like this between players for some time.
GTA Online is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
