The national qualifiers of the 2022 Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP – which is officially sponsored by Toyota Motor Corporation, represented by Toyota GAZOO Racing, to keep pace with the evolving global esports and virtual car racing landscape – are concluding this month
Exceptionally talented simulator drivers from Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain and Mauritania will compete during the third and final round to claim their seats in the finals scheduled to take place in the Jordanian capital, Amman, between 6 and 8 October.
Following the remarkable success of the first edition of the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP last year, the championship now returns with an even wider range of participants and a more advanced structure comprising national qualifier rounds that present everyone with a fair chance to showcase their talents, win and represent their countries during the finals.
With 12 contestants participating from each country, the third round of the national qualifiers will kick off in Oman on Thursday 25 August, followed by Qatar on Saturday 27 August, Bahrain on Sunday 28 August and Saudi Arabia on Monday 29 August, before wrapping up in Mauritania on Wednesday 31 August.
Drivers from each country will have a 10-minute practice session on the track to help familiarize them with the course. After that, the drivers will be given a seven-minute qualifying session that will determine the start line order of the Sprint Race, consisting of seven laps around the renowned Japanese Autopolis International Racing Course, which will decide the starting grid of the Feature Race.
Before the Feature Race, competition will be easing for a five-minute practice session, after which the drivers will return for 11 laps around the 4.673 km track, with the fastest two to cross the finish line winning first and second places in the national qualifiers. Both will be directly advancing to the finals, with the third-place winner becoming first reserve in case the first or second-place winners are unable to show up at the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP finals.

About Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP
The first edition of the Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA ESPORTS CUP (known then as Toyota GAZOO Racing MENA Digital Cup) was launched in 2021 in the Jordanian capital, Amman, under the sponsorship of Toyota Motor Corporation – represented by Toyota GAZOO Racing – and organized by Jordan Motorsport, backed by the Fédération Internationale de l’Automobile (FIA). The tournament is held annually and draws the participation of talented contestants from across the MENA region.
22 contestants from 11 countries – Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Palestine, Cyprus, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Mauritania – competed vigorously in the first edition of the championship, which replicated the real racing world with unprecedented accuracy thanks to a partnership with one of the most advanced online driving simulator games, Gran Turismo Sport, and the latest hardware and software technologies pertaining to racing rigs and racing simulators.
The championship returns this year at higher levels of organization and professionalism, with the second edition being held under the supervision of Jordan Motorsport as FIA representative and organized by Desert Fox Racing. Egypt and Morocco will also be joining this year – alongside Jordan, UAE, Bahrain, Saudi Arabia, Oman, Cyprus, Qatar, Kuwait, Lebanon and Mauritania.
