Prime Matter and developer Mad Head Games have announced Scars Above, a “challenging” sci-fi third-person shooter, will be launching in 2023, offering a mysterious alien world to explore, and a menagerie of monsters, each requiring different strategies to defeat.
Scars Above’s story revolves around the appearance of a colossal alien structure, known as ‘The Metahedron’ in Earth’s orbit, which you’re sent to investigate. As Dr. Kate Ward, a member of the Sentient Contact Assessment and Response team (SCAR), you’ll wake up alone on a mysterious extrasolar planet, when The Metahedron pulls the SCAR team across space.
The exoplanet Kate finds herself stranded on is a strange, hostile place, and she’ll have to reply on her resourcefulness as a scientist in order to survive and find her missing crew. Using ranged weapons, devices, consumables, and melee attacks, you’ll need to manage stamina, running , dodging, and targeting enemy weak spots using elemental attacks to overcome innumerable threats.
Inspired by classic sci-fi, Scars Above will also have you conducting analysis, acquiring knowledge, and crafting new weapons and gadgets, as well as unlocking new abilities in Xenobiology and Engineering. Scars Above is set to release in early 2023 for Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, and PC.
