Games with Gold September 2022 will be the final month to include two Xbox 360 titles as part of its lineup, although the rest of the service will continue alongside Xbox Game Pass in October and beyond.
Game Pass continues to receive a mixture of titles each month that reflects its growing importance to Microsoft’s wider gaming business.
And while Games with Gold remains limited in its scope to Xbox One and Xbox Series X consoles, Game Pass has the potential to open new doors on different platforms to fresh players.

Games With Gold September 2022
Games with Gold has been a mainstay for Xbox consoles since 2013 and has always featured free 360 titles each month. But September’s Games with Gold is scheduled to be the last to offer two games from the older console generation.
The tech giant has made clear that this isn’t in any way connected to the company shutting Games with Gold, but is instead connected to technical limitations and the inability to continue adding fresh backwards compatible 360 games to its library.
A message from Microsoft explains: “Beginning October 1, 2022, the monthly games provided to Xbox Game Pass Ultimate and Xbox Live Gold members via Games with Gold will no longer include Xbox 360 titles.
“We have reached the limit of our ability to bring Xbox 360 games to the catalog; however, Games with Gold will continue to include exciting Xbox One titles and exclusive savings each month.
“This will not impact any Xbox 360 games that you downloaded before October 2022. Any Xbox 360 titles that you redeem via Games with Gold before that time are yours to keep on your Xbox account, regardless of whether you continue your subscription.”
October 2022 will be the first month in years that 360 titles will not be available to download for free as part of Games with Gold, and it begs the question of how long Games with Gold will continue.
Microsoft has not made any announcements regarding the end of Games with Gold, or an ambition to remove it in favour of Xbox Game Pass. But with so many resources going into the digital games library, more changes could always be just around the corner.
