From park passes to coding robots, the library has lots of borrowing options for card holders.

While most people head to the Uxbridge Public Library for a good read, the facility has lots more to offer.

“In keeping with our vision, mission statement and values, the Uxbridge Public Library is always looking for ways to positively impact our community by providing additional items, opportunities and activities to our patrons,” said Corrinne Morrison, library manager.

“While books are the cornerstone of our offerings, they are complemented by programs, games and educational items that can be attended or borrowed by individuals and/or families.”

Items you didn’t know you could borrow with a library card:

Ontario Parks daily vehicle permit: this is the first year the library has offered park passes for borrowing. Pre-booking is required for this item. Book in person or by phone at 905-852-9747.

• Electronic devices: the library offers GPS units to borrow for all card holders and iPads for seniors only.

• Coding robots: kids and adults can practice coding with the help of coding robots, including Bee-Bots and Cubelets.

• Puzzles: Enjoy some family time with a variety of puzzles.

• Video games: Xbox 360 and Wii console owners can borrow a variety of games with the help of their library card.

• Baby bundles: Looking for something to do with baby? The library has you covered with these themed collections that include books, toys and corresponding song and activity cards to enjoy with littles.

• Ebooks and audiobooks: library card holders can enjoy a large selection of ebooks and audiobooks through the Libby app.

• Book club bundles: Choose a fun read to enjoy with your book club thanks to the library’s book club bundles, with copies of popular reads for up to 10 people.

In addition to items available to borrow, the library also offers on-site resources including a 3D printer, tech help sessions (registration required) and a genealogy room.
