Gizmo officially announced, shown, and delayed for MultiVersus

Player First Games gave MultiVersus fans a not so obscure hint at the next character slated to join the game’s roster on Thursday with an exciting tease at Gizmo from Gremlins. The included messaging noted that the “fluffy surprise [is] headed your way Tuesday!,” but it seems we’ll have to wait just a bit longer now.

The official MultiVersus Twitter account shared an in game visual of the newcomer today, but with the unfortunate message of a delay. That said, there’s a bit of additional good news as well.

The cute and cuddly Gizmo is only one of the Gremlins characters we know are en route to the free to play platform fighter, as Stripe, the antagonistic, transformed mogwai from the same film, has appeared on Season 1 MultiVersus artwork.

Given that mogwais like Gizmo transform into evil and more reptilian versions of themselves, fans naturally have been wondering whether or not Gizmo and Stripe will both be part of the same playable character. Game Director, Tony Huynh, cleared up the confusion on Twitter, noting that they’ll be two completely distinct roster options:

New characters in MultiVersus typically cost 700 Gleamium — the game’s premium in-game currency — to unlock, which translates to $7 USD. They can also be purchased with 2000 – 3000 coins, and the same can be expected for Gizmo upon his release next Thursday.

MultiVersus is a free to play title that’s available on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X and Series S, and PC.
