The Division Heartland was announced back in 2021, and the Ubisoft-published, Red Storm-developed free-to-play shooter is supposed to release later this year, for PS5 and PS4. There is a pretty good chance we will see it this weekend at Ubisoft’s Forward event.
It appears someone might have jumped the gun, though, as a page for the game briefly appeared on the Ubisoft Store, giving us some pretty juicy details and screenshots before being quickly kiboshed by the publisher. Thankfully, VGC managed to secure some details, including the game’s official description:
“Tom Clancy’s The Division Heartland is a free-to-play survival-action multiplayer shooter set in small-town Middle America. Play as one of six agents and select between three classes each match, all with their own perks and skills.”
“Fight together in 45-player PvEvP Storm Operations against a group of dangerous Rogue agents, an aggressive faction known as the Vultures, all while surviving a lethal virus. Complete PvE missions, gather gear, activate alerts, and prep the battlefield in Excursion Operations.”
It honestly sounds pretty cool, if perhaps a little formulaic. Fans of The Division and The Division 2 will likely lap this up as these Excursion Operations sound like venturing into the Darkzone in those games, which was an undeniably awesome idea.
