How to play Disney Dreamlight Valley for free?

Disney Dreamlight Valley early access is only free to play from September 6th for Game Pass subscribers on Xbox consoles and PC.

You can join Microsoft’s subscription service for £7.99 per month on PC and Xbox One/Series X and S, or you can get a £10.99 Ultimate membership. The Ultimate membership comes with Xbox Live Gold, as well as an EA Play subscription for console users.

Unfortunately, away from Xbox Game Pass, Disney Dreamlight Valley is not free to play until the full release sometime in 2023. And, when it does fully release, there will be in-game optional items to buy with real currency.

There’s no mention of when the title will fully release in 2023, but the Steam FAQ says early access will run for at least six months minimum.

If you wish to enjoy the game from September 6th on PlayStation, Nintendo Switch, or simply without a Game Pass membership, you will need to pay at least £24.99 for the least expensive Founders Pack.

Early access differences

Aside from having a price instead of being free to play, the big difference between Disney Dreamlight Valley early access and the full release is the lack of a complete story.

Per the Steam FAQ, the full release will feature a complete main story which IGN reports is between 40-60 hours long. Early access does not have multiplayer at launch either, but it will at least be added for the full release.

More Disney characters will be added to the game building up to its full release, and the final product will include an in-game store with monetisation mechanisms. Gameloft says that paid content will simply include cosmetic items and game extensions, rather than lootboxes or anything else.
