Pune: The Union information and broadcasting (I&B) ministry recently launched ‘Azadi Quest’, a series of online educational cellphone games developed in collaboration with Zynga India as a part of Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav celebrations.
The games bring forth the story of the freedom struggle and freedom fighters to the masses. Azadi Quest is an effort to tap into the huge market of online gamers and to educate youngsters, the official release said.
The first two games in the series are already out and more will be launched. The information about unsung freedom fighters in the app has been curated by the Publications Division and Indian Council of Historical Research.
“Match 3 puzzle is a simple and easy-to-play game presenting the players with the colourful journey of India’s independence from 1857 to 1947. The games are available on Android and iOS devices in both Hindi and English languages,” an official said.
On the rising AVGC sector, I&B minister Anurag Thakur had said that there have been continuous efforts to nurture this sector and India has risen to stand among the top 5 countries in the gaming sector.
