Are you a fan of free-to-play titles? A new first-person shooter has just been released in early access onto Steam, and its name is Shatterline. This means a brand new title to add to your long list of free games this year. Shatterline had a series of play tests over the last few weeks but is now available for all PC players with a Steam account.
Here is what you should know:
What is Shatterline?
Shatterline is a brand new free-to-play first-person shooter developed and published by Frag Lab LLC, an independent studio based in Ukraine. The game is set in a post-apocalyptic world where an extra-terrestrial threat has arrived on Earth, transforming most of its inhabitants into crystalline-infected monsters. The game features two modes: Expedition and Versus multiplayer. Both modes feature Operatives which are characters that each have their own unique gadgets, perks, and special weapons.
Expedition is a roguelike co-op mode where players can queue up with up to two other players and embark on missions across different environments. In Expedition players will progress through a linear level, battling hordes of enemies of varying types. Each Expedition playthrough features multiple boss encounters, and upon completing each segment and acquiring Blueprints, players can decide whether or not they want to progress further or head to an extraction point to secure their progress. These Blueprints can then be used in the multiplayer mode to craft weapons.
Shatterline also features a Versus mode where players can head into matchmaking and engage in PVP multiplayer modes such as Team Deathmatch, Conquest, Plant-the-Bomb, and Escort. The game features traditional FPS mechanics such as create-a-class systems and unique character ultimates just like that seen in Overwatch. The game has 8 Operatives and 25 weapons currently.
Although the game is currently available exclusively on Steam for early access, the developers plan to also bring the game to consoles. Shatterline will make its full release in February 2023.
