Marvel’s Midnight Suns, Firaxis’s turn-based superhero strategy game, is set for a December release.
The news was announced at the Disney and Marvel Gaming Showcase, as part of the D23 Disney event. The news is a little surprising because, with Midnight Suns being delayed twice already, we suspected it wasn’t going to arrive till 2023.
But, after its original October 7th release date was pushed back, Firaxis did say it was delayed until later this financial year, so there was always the possibility it would make a 2022 release. And, with the new release date down as December 2nd, it turns out the game has been delayed for less than two months.
However, as Firaxis and publisher 2K explained last time, it won’t be hitting Nintendo Switch and last-gen consoles till a later date. You’ll be able to get your hands on Midnight Suns this December 2nd if you own an Xbox Series X|S, PC or PlayStation 5 but if you have an Xbox One, PlayStation 4 or Nintendo Switch there’s no solid release date as yet.
The game, which sees your supernaturally-assisted heroes taking on the evil Lilith, is now available for pre-order, as both standard and digital deluxe editions. You can check out those details here, though we’re a little disappointed at the “premium skins” on offer. We’re sure they’ll look cool, but there’s no sign of any Marvel Zombies skins. We hope Robert Kirkman’s flesh-eating superheroes at least get a cursory nod.

There’s also a new trailer out, which you can view above. Aside from showing the game’s baddie-bashing combat, it also underlines that you can customise your character. We’re definitely curious to see how Marvel’s big guns are with taking orders from your anonymous newbie.
Marvel’s Midnight Suns arrives this December 2nd on Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5 and PC via the Steam and Epic stores.
