Apple has released tvOS 16 — the latest update for Apple TV that adds HDR10+ support, Nintendo Switch controller compatibility, and more.
tvOS 16 is a relatively minor update compared to iOS 16 and watchOS 9, which Apple is also rolling out today. The update for Apple TV enables developers to integrate tvOS apps with their iPhone, iPad, and Apple Watch apps, allowing new cross-platform experiences. The update also expands game controller support, with Apple adding compatibility with the Nintendo Joy-Cons and Pro Controller.
Throughout the beta cycle, tvOS 16 has had minor updates and new features added. It is yet to be seen whether today’s official release adds any new capabilities to the set-top-box that weren’t available during the testing period.
