MAUD – Plagued by four errors which led to four unearned runs, the Maud Lady Tigers got their ‘Senior Night’ semi-spoiled after dropping a 5-4 decision to Roff in eight innings Thursday.
Earlier in the day, Maud piled up 12 hits while Aubrey Williams and Shaelynn Fletcher combined for a three-inning ho-hitter as the Lady Tigers blitzed Paden 14-0 in a runrule shortened contest.
Roff 5, Maud 4 Maud forced extra play when Reese Street doubled to lead off the seventh inning and scored on Maddie Dustman’s double to the fence down the left-field line to make it 4-4.
However, a Maud error to lead off the inning set the table for Roff’s winning run off a sacrifice bunt.
Maud was retired in order in the bottom of the eighth.
The loss overshadowed a solid night at the plate from Maud senior Reese Street, who went 4-for-4 with two doubles and two runs scored.
Maddie Dustman had a 2-for-4 performance in the game with two runs batted in. Fletcher was also 2-for-4 with a run scored and Amerikus Street finished 2-for-5 with a double and a run scored.
Williams, the Maud hurler, allowed just seven hits, struck out four and walked two.
Roff executed seven sacrifice bunts in the game and a bunt-single on another occasion to help propel its offense. Roff also got its leadoff runner on base five times in the game.
Maud also fell victim to 16 strikeouts in the game.
Maud 14, Paden 0 (2 ½ innings) Dustman and Reese Street each homered as the victorious Lady Tigers set the tone with a 12-run first inning.
Janlee Impson went 3-for-3 with three runs batted in and three runs scored.
Reese Street was 2-for-2 with her homer, double, five RBIs and two runs scored and her younger sister Amerikus Street finished 2-for-2 with a triple, double, one RBI, two runs scored and a walk. Alyssa McKenna also provided a 2-for-2 effort and scored twice.
Williams (1-for-1 with a double) and Dustman (1-for-2 with the homer) each knocked in two runs and Raeyleigh Gensman (1-for-1) ended up with one RBI and a run scored.
Williams and Fletcher combined for five strikeouts and only one walk with Williams, the starter, being credited with the win.
