•    Europe’s top sim racers battle it out for a prize purse of € 70,000

•    Teamwork pays dividends: New Team competition in the sim racing series

The ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW+ enters its fourth season in 2022 and is set to be even more exciting: New circuits, a bulging prize purse of € 70,000, a new Team competition, and a modified race format will make for even more race action.

The best sim racers in Europe have until 6th January to set a flying lap time on the popular RaceRoom platform and qualify for one of the 32 permanent starting places. The first race takes place on 15th February. All races can be seen in livestream with German commentary at adac.de/motorsport and youtube.com/adac, and in English on the channels of traxxion.gg.

For the first time, the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW+ will take place ahead of the ADAC GT Masters season, thus providing a fitting overture to the start of the real series. When the 2022 German GT Championship kicks off on 23rd April at Motorsport Arena Oschersleben, the sim racers will hold their final in the paddock at the same venue, coronavirus permitting.

There is also news when it comes to the circuits, which, as well as the technical challenges desired by the drivers, also promise to provide exciting racing for the spectators. The races in the 2022 ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+ will continue to take place on Tuesday evenings, with the first race to be held at a virtual Brands Hatch on 15th February.

This will be followed by a further five events, each consisting of two races, at the racetracks at Watkins Glen, the Nürburgring, Zandvoort, Silverstone and Monza. The race format has also undergone changes: Each event will feature two races – one 15-minute sprint and one 30-minute endurance race. The sim racers will also have to be in top form prior to the races themselves, as they will only have time for one single flying lap in each of the two qualifying sessions.

If the 2021 season showed one thing, it was that teamwork makes the dream work in eSport. In order to encourage and recognise this teamwork, the ADAC GT Masters eSports Championship powered by EnBW mobility+ is introducing a Team competition alongside the Drivers’ Championship. The drivers and teams will now be battling it out for a prize purse worth € 70,000 in cash and non-cash prizes.

12 drivers have already secured their places among the 32 permanent starters, courtesy of their success in the 2021 season. Three-time champion Moritz Löhner (Dörr Esports), Jakub Brzezinski (Williams Esports), Bence Banki (Dörr Esports), Florian Hasse (Dörr Esports) and Isaac Price (privateer), Emre Cihan (Team Fordzilla), Adam Pinczes (Arnage Competition) and Alessandro Ottaviani (Virtualdrivers by TX3) are already guaranteed a place on the starting grid.

Interested sim racers have until 6th January to qualify for the remaining 20 places via two leaderboards and two subsequent shootouts. The first shootout takes place on 11th January in Spa. The remaining ten places will be allocated on 13th February in a race in Hockenheim.

Each of the six events will also feature four guest starters, who can qualify on the eve of the events via Community Races in the new ADAC GT Masters Community Championship.
