After the release of promising but all too easy Transformers: Battlegrounds back in 2020, we have been wondering where those robots in disguise have disappeared to (presumably an industrial estate parking lot just off the M4). However, two years on, Battlegrounds’ publisher Outright Games has announced that the engines are running on a new Transformers title to be released in 2023.
Developed by Tessera Studios (the team behind Star Trek Prodigy: Supernova) Outright is keeping schtum on the finer details at the moment, though it has said that the game will be based on the upcoming animated series, TRANSFORMERS: EARTHSPARK, which premiers in November.
The series is set to follow a new team of robots who arrive on Earth as the first of their kind. While not much to go off, we can expect the game to feature this new gang, though it is unknown whether this will take a similarly turn-based approach to the prior Battlegrounds release or aim for something new.
We can expect more details about the game itself and when we might see it come to Switch in the coming months.
