A Plague Tale: Requiem developer Asobo Studio has revealed that the power of PS5 has allowed the studio to render as many as 300,000 flesh-hungry rats on screen at once.
To put that into context, A Plague Tale: Innocence featured around 5,000 rats on screen, so the increase to 300,000 of the rodents is nothing short of impressive.
Meanwhile, Sony’s latest hardware has also allowed Asobo Studio to significantly reduce the loading times for the game, as well as implement improved draw distance thanks to the extra memory available.
It’s a good number to convey the vision of the apocalypse which keeps increasingly oppressing our heroes. We’ve also changed the aspect of their movement, so that they look like a giant wave, much like a tsunami crashing down on you.

The development team recently revealed that they are ‘doubling down‘ on DualSense features for A Plague Tale: Requiem, and offered further details on how the power of PS5 has allowed them to improve on the game’s predecessor.
A Plague Tale: Requiem is scheduled for release on October 18, 2022 for PS5, PC, Nintendo Switch and Xbox Series X/S. Watch the latest trailer for the game here.
