A Plague Tale: Requiem PS5 Version to ‘Double Down’ on DualSense

A Plague Tale: Requiem on PS5 will lean heavily into the DualSense controller’s advanced haptics. Developer Asobo Studio is aiming to use haptic feedback to convey the sensation of “being swarmed by rats between your fingers.”

A Plague Tale: Requiem DualSense features

Speaking to PLAY (via MP1st) Asobo Studio’s lead level designer Kevin Pinson expanded upon how the studio is “doubling down” on DualSense, saying:

With Requiem it’s also a lot about the soundscapes and the physicality of the environment, so we try to transcribe that into the haptic feedback. It’s really good playing with the PS5 DualSense. I’m happy that people will soon play and give us feedback about it!

Pinson hopes that this will “ensure [players] really feel that dreadful sensation of being swarmed by rats between your fingers.”

Of course, if that sounds like absolute hell, players are free to disable the feature. (I certainly won’t blame you if you decide to turn it off!)

A Plague Tale: Requiem, complete with its creepy haptics, is set to launch for PS5 on October 18. It’s also coming to Xbox Series X|S and PC, sans haptic feedback.

Publisher Focus Entertainment is going big with this sequel, pushing out a Collector’s Edition for the biggest fans. This version includes a sizeable statuette.

A Plague Tale: Requiem was just one of the games shown off during the recent Xbox Bethesda Showcase. Here’s a recap of the entire event.
