After being announced for PS4 almost seven years ago, Dead Island 2 has been in development for so long that it has now switched from being release on PS4 to only releasing on PS5.
Job postings on current developer Dambuster Studios‘ website, list the game for “next-gen consoles and PC” with no mention anywhere of a PS4 release. This is yet another new development after years and years of the game shifting developers and Deep Silver still insisting the game is coming. Back in April last year the game was also still set to come to Sony’s last-generation console.
As spotted by @MauroNL3 on Twitter, the listing also states that the game will be made in Unreal Engine 4 and use the latest rendering technologies.
Originally announced in 2016 for PS4, XB1 and PC the game had a troubled development cycle, having switched developers 3 times. Publisher Deep Silver recently reiterated the game is still very much coming. Source:https://t.co/GkFwBlLgib

Dambuster previously worked on Homefront: The Revolution, which was not well received and launched in a buggy, glitchy state. So, let’s hope that the amount of time Dead Island 2 is taking to develop will ensure the game releases in a good state.
