The October energy price hike is now hitting bills with millions of UK homes forced to pay double the fees they faced last autumn. Back in October 2021, the average cost for electricity was just 12p per kWh, that’s now rise to a whopping 34p per kWh. It’s a huge jump but there are some simple things you can do to shave a few pennies off of the monthly outgoings including making changes to your TV.
Samsung is just one manufacturer that offers special features which can cut down on power consumption.
The firm’s energy-saving mode, which is available on most recently released models, will cut down on electricity by performing automated changes such as lowering the screen brightness, turning on efficient screen savers if you leave the display on and even automatically switching the telly off after a set time.
All of these functions will make sure the big screen in your home isn’t costing anything more than it needs to.
HOW TO FIND THE ECO MODE ON SAMSUNG TVS
• Press Home button on your Remote
• From the Home screen, navigate to and select Settings
• Select General
• Select Eco Solution (here you’ll find all of the options to save energy)
The same goes for leaving consoles, such as the PS5 and Xbox One X, switched on when not being used as they will cost money.
Turning off lights, making meals in a slow cooker and only using the dishwasher once it’s full are also top tips.
Although it’s good to make sure TVs, lights and consoles are switched off, don’t hit the power button on your Wi-Fi. This will not only slow down speeds when you switch it back on but can also mean it doesn’t receive vital security updates.
