Legendary Solid Snake voice actor David Hayter has been confirmed to helm a TV adaption of EA’s classic video game series American McGee’s Alice, the Hollywood Reporter has revealed.
Hayter’s role a showrunner will see him form a partnership with Abandon Entertainment, and is obviously no stranger to the world of films, having penned the script for X-Men (2000) and The Scorpion King (2002). The American McGree’s TV show will be the first time the franchise has been adapted for the small screen.
What isn’t known yet is what broadcaster or streaming platform will be airing the show, as nothing has been announced in regards to distribution.
Hayter, who voiced Metal Gear Solid’s Sold Snake for a number of games starting with 1998’s Metal Gear Solid on PSOne, commented:
American McGee’s Alice and Alice: Madness Returns game series is a groundbreaking reimagining of the classic tale. It takes you into the heart of a corrupted Wonderland and throws light into shadowy corners the world has never seen. I am beyond excited to bring this world of madness and wonder to a global audience.

According to the Hollywood Reporter, American McGee’s Alice will take place after the titular heroine returns from her trip to the Looking-Glass, finding her house burned to the ground and her parents having perished in the blaze. After repeated suicide attempts as a result of losing her family, Alice is placed in a mental institution only to be summoned by the White Rabbit to Wonderland again.
The last video game entry in American McGee’s Alice was released in 2011 for the PS3, PC, and Xbox 360 in the shape of Alice: Madness Returns.
