We hope you’re ready to see Animal Crossing in a whole new light, because a fearsome short which centres around the game is being transformed into a full-length feature horror film.

Don’t Peek, a short film by Julian Terry, stars a woman who finds herself playing Animal Crossing: New Horizons in a bedroom at night. Things take a terrifying turn for the worse when a monster appears in-game, managing to escape from the Animal Crossing world into her own.

Since making its world premiere earlier this week on the first day of SXSW Online, it’s now been reported that the film has been picked up by Timur Bekmambetov, director of American action-thriller Wanted starring Angelina Jolie. Bekmambetov will adapt the short for the big screen alongside Majd Nassif and creative executive, Pavel Bozhkov (thanks, Deadline).

Don’t Peek is available to watch for free on YouTube. You can check it out below, but be warned that this scary flick isn’t suited for anyone who doesn’t like to be spooked, and isn’t best suited for younger audiences either. If you don’t mind being scared senseless, then by all means jump in:
