Argos drops PS5 stock early this morning – but there’s still hope for gamers

Today looks to be a big day for gamers today with alleged drops happening from major retailers.

Heavy rumours from stock trackers on Twitter indicate that today could see stock from Curry’s, GAME and Argos meaning a great day for gamers.

Meanwhile, it appears that Argos already dropped early this morning at around 1am – much like it has done previously.

People have already reported getting frustrated at how early the retailer dropped.

One person said: “PS5 stock drop in the middle of the night. Almost seems like it was designed to go to the bots, because you know, if you wanted normal people to get them you might have dropped it when they were, I don’t know, awake!”

Another wrote: “So frustrated right now. Everytime Argos restock the PS5 I miss out because they do it at stupid o’clock in the morning, when I’m dead to the world after doing a 10 hour shift”.

Meanwhile, we’re running a live blog keeping an eye on PS5 stock that you can keep an eye on right here.

In other news, the Government has finally responded to a petition urging MPs to do more about scalping.

A petition was set up by Richard Glover after the release of the next-gen consoles after it become notoriously hard to grab a PS5 and Xbox Series X.

The Government has responded to the petition emphasising it is “illegal to buy tickets using automated software” and it is “discussing other markets with relevant trade associations.”

The Department for Business, Energy and Industrial Strategy said it’s discussing the issue of “bulk purchasing of high demand items like graphics cards and games consoles through automated bots with trade associations such as Ukie”.
