ARK Update v559.2 – Why Does the Game Look Different?

ARK’s most recent update reverts graphics to a previous version. Why?

ARK: Survival Evolved has been a widely popular online game ever since it released back in 2015. With a new game on the way and an animated series in the works, it’s no wonder why it’s been more popular than ever recently. Today marked a new patch for the game, so here’s what’s in the ARK update v559.2.

According to the official ARK: Survival Evolved website, the single patch note for v559.2 is:

“Reverted visual enhancements as they were causing stability issues (game would crash) and some performance dips in some cases. We’ll be looking to re-implement these visual enhancements in the future once we’ve resolved the stability and performance problems.”

You read that correctly, it seems as though some of the recent visual enhancements made to the game caused it to be unstable resulting in crashes. This is great news for those who have been unable to play the game because of those performance issues, but potentially disappointing for those not experiencing the crashes. That said, the note makes it clear that the visual enhancements will return once the root of the problem is solved.

The game receives numerous updates year-round, so if you’re waiting for those visual enhancements to come back, you can expect regular updates.
