Arkansas vs. UAPB channel, stream, game time

The Arkansas Razorbacks will host instate foe UAPB for a two-game midweek series beginning Tuesday evening in Fayetteville. First pitch for Game 1 between the Hogs and Golden Lions is set for 6:30 p.m. (CST) from Baum-Walker Stadium.

Arkansas took two out of three in a crucial weekend series at Ole Miss which allowed the Razorbacks to take sole possession of first place in the SEC West and move back to the unanimous No. 1 team in the country. The Hogs split Saturday’s doubleheader before winning a wild, 18-14, rubber match on Saturday that saw Arkansas squander an 11-run lead before rallying late to secure the victory.

Time and time again throughout the season, Arkansas has battled back from adversity and shown resiliency in big games and hostile environments. With the season over halfway complete at this point, thriving in a comeback role seems to just be part of the DNA of this Razorback team.

“We just kept fighting,” said Arkansas coach Dave Van Horn. “We’ve been doing this all season. We’re past the halfway point. We fought back, we’ve let some leads slip away. We’ve come back and won games. So we’ve been through a lot. I don’t think they get too rattled.”

Cayden Wallace was recognized for his efforts last week, earning SEC Co-Freshman of the Week honors. The Greenbrier (Ark.) native belted his team-leading eighth home run of the year and drove in a team-high six RBI on the weekend. Wallace had at least one hit in all three games of the series and collected multiple RBI in two of the three contests.

UAPB has had a rough go of it so far this season. The Golden Lions (2-19) haven’t played since dropping a midweek doubleheader at Kansas State last week and haven’t won a game since sweeping a doubleheader at Texas Southern on March 13. UAPB bats .231 as a team, and the pitching staff carries a cumulative 11.27 earned run average.

Consensus No. 1… For Now

The college baseball community agrees that Arkansas is the No. 1 team in the country.

The Razorbacks led all five major polls released Monday, standing tall as the consensus top-ranked team in college baseball. Baseball America, Collegiate Baseball Newspaper, D1Baseball, Perfect Game and USA Today each put Arkansas atop their respective rankings for week nine of the season. The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association did not release an updated poll.

It is the fourth time this season that Arkansas is the consensus No. 1 team as well as the seventh consecutive week that the Hogs are ranked as the top team by at least one of the six polls.

Those Homerin’ Hogs

After swatting four more over the weekend in Oxford, Arkansas remains the nation’s co-leader in home runs.

The Razorbacks have hit 54 homers in 31 games this year, tied for the most in all of college baseball with Old Dominion. The Hogs’ astounding 1.74 homers per game ranks third in the country behind only Northwestern (1.81) and Old Dominion (1.80).
