CNIA Powwow: April 2, noon to 10 p.m., University of Minnesota-Morris Cougar Sports Center; UM-Morris Circle of Nations Indigenous Association 37th annual powwow. The contest-style powwow celebrates the social and cultural ties American Indian students have with Native communities across the United States and Canada. Grand entry at 1 and 7 p.m.

Easter egg hunt: The annual Easter egg hunt will be from 11:30 a.m. to noon Sunday, April 10, at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Willmar. Families welcome.

National Crayon Day: March 31, 1 to 4 p.m., all ages, free. Coloring is more fun with others. Come choose from a variety of coloring pages or bring your own.

Veterans coffee social: April 4 and 18, 9:30 to 11 a.m., open to all veterans, police, fire and emergency medical services members.

Aging Wisely: April 7, 1:30 p.m., free. Jill Wohnoutka from the Kandiyohi County Historical Society will talk about the history of the county, volunteer opportunities and ways to contribute your history.

National Pet Day: April 11, 3 to 5 p.m. The Hawk Creek Animal Shelter will bring some of their available pets to adopt. They will accept donated supplies to help the shelter.

Put the “GRAND,” in Grandparent: April 20, 12:30 p.m., free. This informative session will leave you with tools to show your (great) grandkids how cool you are.

Springtime gnome sculpture: April 21, 10 a.m., $12 per gnome, advance registration required by calling community center. Come paint your own handmade clay gnome made by Kraft Koop.

SWCD Spring Showcase: April 21, 1 to 4 p.m., free. The Kandiyohi County Soil and Water Conservation District will hold an open house. Come decorate a bee house, learn about nitrate in your water, and other fun nature booths.

Jolly Twirlers Square Dance: April 23, 7 p.m., $5. All are welcome to join in this square dancing evening.

Wisdom & Wine: The Friends of the Willmar Public Library will sell tickets from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. April 4-6 at the Willmar Public Library for Friends of the Library members — become a member for $10 — for a June 9 Wisdom & Wine fundraising event featuring Minnesota authors, dessert and wine. Teen Book Club: April 22, 4 p.m., club discussion of this month’s book, in the multipurpose room, no registration necessary.

Adoption and foster care: April 26, 6 p.m., online panel put on by MN Adopt and Nexus-Kindred Family Healing. A panel of adoptive parents and foster care and adoption professionals will share their stories and answer your questions on what the process looks like to foster and/or adopt in Minnesota. Craft & Coloring: April 27, 2 p.m., upstairs at the library. Bring any crafts or coloring you are working on or use the provided supplies for coloring and more. Every fourth Wednesday.

Art to the Willmar Library: DEMO Inc. (Developing Exploring Maintaining Originality through the arts) has received funding from the Southwest Minnesota Arts Council for classes for students in grades 4-12. Complete information available in the Showcase section in today’s paper under “Arts Classes / Workshops.”

Teen Take & Make Crafts: April 4 opens for twine bunny, and April 18 opens for watercolor diamond. For ages 12-18, limit one per person as supplies are limited. Sign up on the library website.

Adult make-and-take: Crafts are posted on the website as they are available. March 21 opened for cozy cat cross stitch. Use the form on the website to reserve supplies to make your very own featured project. Once you have registered, library staff will call you or email you when it is ready to be picked up. Book a librarian: Set up an hour-long, one-on-one appointment with a librarian for help with computer skills, tablets, research and more. Appointments can be made in person, by calling

Makerspace Equipment: Cricut, Dremel Stylo, button maker, jewelry stamping and sewing machine. Equipment must be used in the library and consumable materials are not supplied. Brainfuse HelpNow: Free online tutoring service, grades K-12, one-to-one live homework help from online tutors between 2 and 11 p.m. daily; English or Spanish; math, science, English/language arts, social studies and reading assistance; app available for mobile.  

Interactive movie kit: The interactive movie kits include a script along with props for up to six participants. Limit of one per week per household. Register on the library website. New titles each month.

Seed Library: Browse the seed library and/or request seeds online on the library’s website under adult services.

Book Box: Register for a book box on the library website, check out a copy of the book, open the items as you reach specific chapters in the book, all ages.

Teen lit loot: Sign up and you will receive a library book based on your interests and a bag of goodies to go with it. One per month and will need to re-register each month. April’s theme is art.

Blackout Poet-tree: April 1-30, all ages. We’re celebrating National Poetry Month. Bring out your inner poet by grabbing a book page or two and creating a poem by blacking out words on the page, leaving only the words to your poem. Bring your poem to the checkout desk and we will add it to our community.
