August 2022 has been a busy month for Microsoft’s Xbox Game Pass subscription service. Besides the games that have already been added, PC Game Pass also received more classic Bethesda-published titles, and various other games have been confirmed for the second half of August. As usual, the new Xbox Game Pass game additions are scattered throughout the month, though one day stands out as a particularly strong one for the service.
Tuesday, August 30 is going to be a huge day for Xbox Game Pass, and arguably the biggest day for the service for the entire month of August. It’s on that day that Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to the addition of not one, not two, but three day one releases. Those three day one Xbox Game Pass games will also be joined by a relatively well-received open world action-adventure from major publisher Ubisoft, so it should all add up to being an exciting day for subscribers.
On August 30, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can look forward to the addition of day one game Commandos 3: HD Remaster. Commandos 3: HD Remaster is a real-time tactics game, and a remaster of Commandos 3: Destination Berlin that originally released in 2003. The original version of Commandos 3 earned somewhat mixed reviews at the time of its release, but the improvements being made in Commandos 3: HD Remaster may lead to it being better-received than the original. Commandos fans can look forward to greatly improved graphics, better controls, a new UI, and more when Commandos 3: HD Remaster hits Xbox Game Pass on August 30. The game will be available to play through the cloud, consoles, and PC, so Game Pass subscribers can check it out regardless of their platform of choice.

One of the day one Xbox Game Pass games coming on August 30 is not going to have the same level of availability as Commandos 3: HD Remaster, but it’s still one of the most exciting new additions to the lineup. On August 30, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play day one game Immortality, the latest project from Sam Barlow, who is best known for projects like Her Story and Telling Lies. Immortality is only going to be available on the cloud, PC, and Xbox Series X, so there will be no native Xbox One release, but fans should be very excited to play the game for themselves.
Immortality is similar to Sam Barlow’s previous games in that it tasks players with solving a mystery by checking out FMV clips. The plot is about an actress named Marissa Marcel who has mysteriously gone missing, with players trying to figure out exactly what happened to her. It sounds like a by-the-numbers Sam Barlow project on paper, but Edge magazine gave Immortality a perfect score, making it much more interesting than it would be otherwise. Edge magazine has only given out 10/10 scores on 23 other occasions since its first issue was published in 1993, so it will definitely be interesting to see how the rest of the industry reacts to the game come August 30.
The third and final day one Xbox Game Pass game releasing on August 30 is a quirky game called Tinykin. In Tinykin, a boy named Milo finds himself to have shrunk to miniscule size, and he has to team up with strange creatures called the tinykin to navigate this dangerous new world. Tinykin looks most similar to Pikmin, but it’s still clearly trying to carve out its own niche. It will be available to Xbox Game Pass subscribers on consoles and PC when it launches as a day one Xbox Game Pass game on August 30.
The fourth game coming to Xbox Game Pass on August 30 isn’t a day one release, but it’s still a notable addition to the lineup. On August 30, Xbox Game Pass subscribers can play the latest Ubisoft addition to Game Pass in the form of Immortals Fenyx Rising, which will be available to play across the cloud, consoles, and PC. Immortals Fenyx Rising is best-described as a Greek mythology twist on The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Immortals Fenyx Rising earned mostly positive reviews at the time of its original release, and rumor has it that a sequel is on the way. If the rumors are true, then Game Pass should provide the perfect opportunity for fans to catch up on the original before the next game in the series releases to the masses, whenever that may be.
August 30 is going to be a huge day for Xbox Game Pass and there are many reasons for fans to be excited about what it has in store. However, it should be noted that the next day, August 31, is shaping up to be one of the worst days in Game Pass history. 10 games are leaving Xbox Game Pass on August 31, so fans should make sure to try those titles out while they still can.
