Backer Rewards Delayed for Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Due to Russian Shipping Halt

Moscow-based developer Owlcat Games has announced that shipping for physical backer rewards from the Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Kickstarter campaign has been delayed due to shipping bans against Russia.

Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous is the latest CRPG set in the Pathfinder universe to be developed by Owlcat Games. First launched late last summer, the devs announced a Season Pass and recently announced a delay for its newest DLC. Now, yet another delay has been announced for the physical backer rewards from the game’s Kickstarter campaign.

Owlcat Games Explains Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Backer Rewards Delay, Digital Updates to Continue

The Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous Kickstarter campaign had a number of physical rewards available for higher pledge tiers including a metal pin, an art book, a painted 120mm figurine, and more. Unfortunately, Owlcat Games is headquartered in Moscow, Russia — and now it can’t actually ship any of these rewards out of the country due to the conflict with Ukraine.

Here is the full statement released by Owlcat Games earlier today (via ResetEra):

The tragic events of recent days have made us think more about the things that really matter – our families, friends, and colleagues, their health and safety.

We’ve decided to stop posting content on our social media, as it is simply not appropriate given the current situation. However, we will continue working. This is the little that we can do now – to fully honor the commitments we’ve made to our gaming community.

Our plans for the 1.2 patch and the first DLC remain unchanged – both will be released this Thursday, March 3.

As regards the shipping of physical rewards – unfortunately, some things are beyond our control. Currently, our partner UPS has suspended all shipments. We cannot predict how the situation will develop or when everything will be restored, but we will resume shipments as soon as we can.

As the above statement explains, Owlcat Games had partnered with UPS to ship out physical rewards for qualifying Kickstarter backers. However, UPS (along with FedEx) have suspended incoming and outgoing shipments to Russia and Ukraine. DHL has also suspended shipments to and from Ukraine, although it has not yet commented on whether or not it was suspending operations in Russia at the time of writing.

For now, work on the digital version of the game will continue. Owlcat Games explains that it still gets paid for its sales via Steam and that it currently has no plans to start using cryptocurrencies or “anything to do with them” at this time.

Owlcat Games will resume shipments of its Kickstarter Backer Rewards as soon as it is able to find a solution. For now, you can buy Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous for PC via the game’s official website starting at $49.99 or your regional equivalent.
