If you’re still on the hunt for PS5 or Xbox Series X stock, Big W could become your saviour if its website is any indication.

It’s hard to believe, but finding a PS5 and Xbox Series X in 2021 is still an absolute bloody nightmare. Even when places like EB Games do get manage to get stock, the allocation is exhausted lickety-split.

But all hope might not yet be lost. It appears that the almighty Big W may be expecting a refresh sometime soon. A quick check of their website currently reveals an ominous green “Coming Soon” sticker on their product pages for both PS5 and Xbox Series X.

As far as details go – that’s it. It’s not much to go on, we know, but is promising information nonetheless. That’s because if most retailers are anything to go by, when stock of either systems is non-existent you are traditionally met with either a broken landing page or a message that insists no orders are being taken at this time.

As a result, these two Big W listings are slightly more promising in their wording.

Unfortunately there’s no real indication as to whether “soon” means days, weeks, or even months, so it’s worth bookmarking those pages so you can easily note any further updates. Alternatively, you can also make use of this real-time stock tracker to help keep an eye on other retailers.

This is what it feels like you have to go through to nab a PS5

Meanwhile, Target Australia has posted similar messaging on their PS5 listing as well. Their page notes “Releasing soon. Please check this page for release timing updates. Not available for in-store purchase.”

What’s interesting here is that the update is only for PS5. No similar message for the Xbox Series X.

It’s the wild west out there, but hopefully as the year progresses, both Sony and Microsoft have the means to produce more of these damn things.
