In a new interview, Experiment 101 boss Stefan Ljunqvis has teased an enhanced port of Biomutant for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S with various upgrades.
Biomutant may get an enhanced version for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S, with Experiment 101 boss teasing an announcement in the near future. The intriguing RPG promises to provide a unique world where mutated animals inhabit the world following an apocalyptic event. It was first revealed way back in 2017 and very little has been shown since outside of the odd gameplay trailer.
Despite coming from highly acclaimed developers behind games like Just Cause and being published by THQ, precious little of Biomutant has been revealed in recent months. The studio only announced a release date for the title at the start of the year. This apparent silence from the team came about due to a delay caused by the project expanding dramatically in size, with the script for the story going from 80,000 words to almost 250,000.

Developer Experiment 101, the team behind Biomutant, has teased that an enhanced port of the game for the PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S could be in the works. Speaking to Eurogamer, writer and director Stefan Ljunqvist made some cryptic comments about how the studio developed Biomutant. According to Ljunqvist, Experiment 101 concentrated on getting the game to work best on the lead platform of the PS4 alongside the Xbox One and PC. However, he did hint that the developer would have more news about upgraded versions of the game on the newer and more powerful hardware.
“I cannot really go into any depth,” Ljungqvist said in the interview. “But let’s say that when I got the question ‘will the game be playable on the new consoles?’ I said ‘yes’. So let’s assume that there will be more communication around that soon.”
Despite the fact that both THQ and Experiment 101 have been relatively quiet about Biomutant until the last few weeks, it hasn’t stopped unscrupulous characters from trying to take advantage of fans. The publisher had to send out a warning to gamers in January, advising them that scam emails were doing the rounds promising to reveal information about the game by clicking phishing links.
The fact that Biomutant may get an upgraded release for the new platforms will excite fans, especially considering that the game has been delayed several times. Many players will want to enjoy the very best version of the title and will have moved on from the last generation by the time it releases later this year.
Biomutant is expected to launch on PC, PS4, and Xbox One on May 25, 2021.
