STATEN ISLAND, N.Y. — It’s been over a year since the release of PS5 and Xbox Series X, but many gamers across the country are still struggling to get their hands on the next-generation consoles.
Luckily, with Black Friday rapidly approaching, many retailers are expected to restock the hard-to-find consoles in anticipation of the holiday shopping season.
AVAILABLE ON MONDAY
Among those restocking retailers is Walmart, which has confirmed through its Black Friday ad that it will be restocking the PS5 and Xbox Series X on Monday, Nov. 22, as part of the company’s week-long Black Friday sale.
The consoles, which are listed in the ad at their retail price of $499, will be sold by Walmart online only this holiday season, meaning in-store shoppers are out of luck.
The gaming systems will become available on the Walmart website on Monday at 7 p.m.
Supplies of the PS5 and Xbox Series X are expected to be limited and will be sold on a first-come, first-serve basis.
However, there is one catch.
EARLY ACCESS
Walmart is giving exclusive early access to Black Friday deals to members of the company’s Walmart+ program, which costs $13 per month or $98 per year.
Walmart+ members will be granted access to the company’s Black Friday deals four hours before non-members, meaning they can begin snagging the new consoles at 3 p.m.
Given the limited supplies and high demand, it’s likely that the PS5 and Xbox Series X will be out of stock before non-members even get the chance to add them to their cart.
While Walmart is currently offering a 15-day free trial for the Walmart+ program, only paying subscribers will be eligible for early access, meaning those currently on the free trial won’t be able to start their shopping four hours earlier.
