Bloodborne Movie, TV Show Could Be a Thing in the Future

A Bloodborne movie, TV series, or anime is not outside the realms of possibility according to PlayStation Studios lead Hermen Hulst, who says the company’s investments are about more than just game development nowadays.

Talking to Reuters about Sony’s recent funding of Elden Ring maker FromSoftware, Hulst said: “You should think of collaborations on the game development side first and foremost, but it’s also not unthinkable with our PlayStation Productions efforts that we explore opportunities.” Sony is making a habit of late to tie its movie and TV efforts to a game release so new fans have something to play once they’ve consumed that other piece of media; The Last of Us: Part I is a recent example. A remaster of Horizon Zero Dawn tied with the Netflix TV show looks set to be another.

Elsewhere in the article, Hulst says “definitely a possibility” for Sony to invest in the PC, mobile, and live service spaces even further. The company acquired Nixxes Software to help out with porting PS5, PS4 games to the personal computer, and Savage Game Studios was brought on board to bolster Sony’s mobile efforts. Finally, Destiny 2 developer Bungie was purchased for $3.6 billion to aid first-party studios in the live service space. The two companies will come together to form a “live service centre of excellence” once the deal closes.

So far, PlayStation Productions has confirmed The Last of Us TV show from HBO will arrive next year, and then God of War is being adapted by Amazon while the TV rights to Horizon were claimed by Netflix. We also have Gran Turismo TV shows and movies to look forward to, as well as a Ghost of Tsushima live-action film.
