Some Filipino Dota 2 players will advance to the next round in the 11th edition of The International held in Singapore.
Erin “Yopaj” Ferrer, Timothy “Tims” Randrup, and Rolen Andrei “skem” Ong, along with their teammates in Boom Esports, defeated Team Spirit in the first round of the lower bracket matches in Day 1 of TI on Thursday.
Boom Esports will face the relegated PSG.LGD in a best-of-three series in the second round on Friday. PSG.LGD lost to Team Secret in the upper bracket.
Meanwhile, Abed “Abed” Yusop and the rest of Team Evil Geniuses lost to Thunder Awaken, 0-2. They will be relegated to the next phase of the lower bracket where they will face Beastcoast in a best-of-three series in the next round on Friday.

Thunder Awaken, meanwhile, will see action against Team Secret in the upper bracket semis on Saturday.
In the other first round matches in the lower bracket, Beastcoast defeated Hokori, while Entity beat Royal Never Give Up in their best-of-1 matches.
Fnatic, which is composed of Filipino players Marc Polo “Raven” Fausto, Armel “Armel” Tabios, Djardel “Dj” Mampusti, and Jaunuel “Jaunuel” Arcilla, along with Thai player Anucha “Jabz” Jirawong lost to Gaimin Gladiators.
