Having notched up yet another BTS Pro Series championship, BOOM Esports continues to demonstrate why it is the best team in Southeast Asia (SEA). Execration provided some stiff competition for the team in the grand final of the BTS Pro Series: S12, but the team displayed characteristic tenacity and experience in the tense situations to win 3-2. BOOM did not have the kind of dominating group stage performance that could be expected of the team, but it dramatically improved in the playoffs to win the event and gain great confidence ahead of The International 11 (TI11). BOOM has won its last three BTS Pro Series events, with previous victories coming in Seasons 8 and 9.
BOOM Esports vs Execration: Match recap and highlights
Recap
In game 1, BOOM went for an innovative midlane selection with Primal Beast for Yopaj. BOOM was able to build a 10k advantage in 25 minutes because of the supports’ quick moves and a solid laning presence. Execration, on the other hand, transformed beyond this point, and because it was mostly its supports feeding kills, the cores proved to be rather effective once they reached their timings. A game that appeared to be in BOOM’s hands completely changed around after two fabulously executed consecutive teamfight wins from Execration, who won the game in 50 minutes.
In game 2, BOOM completely annihilated Execration. Once again demonstrating faith in the mid Primal Beast, the hero proved to be a beast throughout the game, as did the majority of the heroes on BOOM’s side. It was a total massacre, and Execration tapped out after losing 39 heroes in 37 minutes.
In game 3, BOOM was on the receiving end of the misery as Execration played with a crisp plan. Using the early stages to farm on their heroes like Templar Assassin and Pudge, Execration’s players exploited their mid game timing to pounce on BOOM who couldn’t bear the pressure. BOOM understood the game was finished and called ‘GG’ after only 28 minutes.
Game 4 began with a reasonably competitive early phase, despite more support heroes dying on Execration’s side. However, a single teamfight loss for Execration around the 21-minute mark sent things spiraling out of control. The squad continued to feed one by one until the game ended, making it appear like BOOM had it easy. Execration tried to fight in the end, but the damage was done, and the team was defeated in 35 minutes.
In game 5, BOOM chose the classic Yopaj Ember, Tims Mirana, Fbz Mars, and JaCkky Phantom Assassin as its heroes. There was a lot less action in the first 15 minutes when Execration forced BOOM to play its way. But BOOM, with its wealth of expertise in this terrifying draft, established a groove and never looked back. Kills were set up incessantly, and Execration became disoriented and kept losing the lead. The squad pushed the game for 38 minutes but couldn’t avert the inevitable.
Highlights
Here are some highlights of the series.
After earning the BTS Pro Series S12 win, BOOM will feel more satisfied than pleased; it delivers a sense of acceptance of form only a week before the biggest tournament of the year. Even though the start wasn’t as impressive, BOOM found its way around, acquired match practice, and ended strong.
While Execration may not be playing at TI11 or the last chance qualifier, the team certainly improved in the event, taking down both Fnatic and Hokorti and then competing strongly against BOOM in the grand final. Despite the player options that will be available in the next two months, the organization may keep some of the current players for the next season.
