Bren Esports avenged their early season loss to Blacklist International with a 2-1 victory in Week 6 of the Mobile Legends: Bang Bang Professional League (MPL) Philippines Season 10 on Saturday.
With the win, the Season 6 champions leapfrogged Omega Esports to 5th place in the standings after taking their 6th in 11 matches.
After a close early game, Bren took the lead in Game 1 after Rowgien Stimpson “Owgwen” Unigo (Atlas) executed a four-man Fatal Links set-up off a 7th minute turtle fight that resulted in a 4-0 wipe.
Bren though committed a costly overstaying in the enemy base with Blacklist punishing them with a 3-2 tradeoff to take back some gold from the shutdowns.
The two-time MPL PH champs then caught Michael Angelo “KyleTzy” Sayson (Balmond) out of position to score a pick off but Bren weaved their way through the lengthy skirmish to retaliate with a 2-0 takedown of their own.
Owgen then delivered another crucial two-man Fatal Links set-up that rendered Blacklist helpless in the ensuing base turret push, 1-0.
The reigning world champions though easily shrugged off the opening loss and relied on their iconic macro plays to easily take a 5-1 kill lead along with a 4k lead and the 9th minute lord.
Bren just didn’t have an answer to Blacklist’s genius engage and disengage mind games leading to a lopsided affair culminating in a 16th minute 4-0 wipe out for the equalizer.
In Game 3, Blacklist used an 8th minute skirmish that saw Edward “EDWARD” Dapadap score a triple kill to wrestle control of the match.
But Bren displyed micro mechanical prowess during a lengthy 13minute lord dance to take a 3-1 trade off and secure the enhanced lord.
Vincent “Pandora” Unigo (Paquito) scored a 1-on-1 off-cam kill on Salik “Hadji” Imam (Lunox) in the 19minute that helped Bren take map space and secure the evolved lord.
Bren then played superbly during a 24th minute skirmish where they punished Blacklist’s aggression with a 2-0 pickoff and bought just enough time for the lord to march mid and win them the game.
