Call of Duty will be getting raids, it’s confirmed

Tonight’s Call of Duty Next broadcast revealed perhaps the biggest shakeup of the series by introducing Raids to the series.

The news was announced on stage by franchise director Patrick Kelley right at the start. We’re yet to hear full details – and we’ll update when we have them – but it seems players will be able to team up to take on missions.

Kelley also mentioned the addition of Quests and Missions too, somewhat turning the game into an RPG similar to Destiny.

It wasn’t clear yet if these raids will be exclusive to Modern Warfare 2, Warzone 2.0 or both, but we’ll update when we learn more.

There’ll also be some new modes including Invasion and Prisoner Rescue. The former sees players eliminate or be eliminated.

Then there’s Prisoner Rescue, that will see players trying to rescue a hostage and get them out of the map alive, while the other team tries to stop them.

Elsewhere, we found out that Warzone 2 will be getting ledge hanging and MW 2 will get a brand new Gunsmith.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2 releases on October 28 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4 and PC.
