Conan Chop Chop heads to PC and consoles later tonight, and ahead of this time Stevivor was able to catch up with Adelaide-based developer Mighty Kingdom to discuss its first-ever foray onto consoles.
Mighty Kingdom’s certainly an established studio, but to date, each of its titles has been developed for mobile platforms. The jump over to console wasn’t without some difficulty.
“It’s certainly been a challenging experience because there’s a lot of a lot of things that came up with console development that we weren’t super familiar with, [this] being one of the first times that a lot of the team members have done this,” Producer Jeff Wong told Stevivor. .
“I think all console developers would agree [that] each platform is very particular about specific things that they particularly care about, and they vary across the different platforms,” he continued, “so it was a a real learning opportunity for us to figure out.”
Wong also confirmed that Conan Chop Chop is an Xbox One and PS4 release, but it of course will work on Xbox Series and PS5 consoles using backwards compatibility.
“There’s no immediate plans for [a current-gen version] at this point, but… that’s definitely something that we probably will consider,” he offered.
Conan Chop Chop heads to Windows PC via Steam, Xbox One, PS4 and Switch on 1 March. A demo is also available; you can download it on Windows PC via Steam here, or right here on Nintendo Switch.
