Blizzard has been through the wringer since Overwatch 2 launched last week, which is a shame because it’s pretty darn fun when everything is working as intended. Still, it looks like they aren’t out of the woods yet, as console players have begun to take umbrage with aim assist being disabled during crossplay with their PC competitors.
Aim assist is a contentious subject at the best of times, but in the case of Overwatch 2, it’s particularly galling. In a Reddit thread devoted to the matter, console players complain that they are already at a disadvantage against PC players when they do have aim assist enabled due to the more precise nature of mouse and keyboard controls. With it disabled, though, it can lead to some real frustration.
Considering you can’t even play ranked playlists during crossplay, it can’t even be argued that disabling the feature was done in the name of competitive balancing. Regardless of whether you are for or against its inclusion, there does seem to be a consistency issue at play here. And, let’s be honest, Overwatch 2 is hardly Counterstrike, and a little assistance isn’t really the end of the world in a more arcade-style of shooter.
