If you’re a fan of Animal Crossing or Hokko Life, you’re in luck. Grow: Song of the Evertree is a brand new cozy adventure with life sim and management elements. It’s coming in November this year, and there’s even a little environmental bonus if you wishlist it right now.
What is Grow: Song of the Evertree?
Developer Prideful Sloth describes Grow: Song of the Evertree as a “world-crafting sandbox with life management and adventure elements”. Publishing duties are being handled by 505 Games; after the Team17-published Hokko Life, it looks like publishers are waking up to the possibilities of cozy gaming. You are the last Everheart Alchemist, and it’s your job to care for the Evertree, which is now a sapling where once stood a mighty colossus. Naturally, in order to care for the Evertree, you’ll need to plant lots of seeds, chat to townsfolk, and collect a whole bunch of minerals, flowers, and materials. You can check out the Grow: Song of the Evertree release date trailer right here.
Rather uniquely, you’ll be able to use World Seeds in Grow: Song of the Evertree in order to grow entirely new worlds. You can then tend to these worlds, watching as they generate new settlements and geographical features before your very eyes. Of course, you’ll also be able to build your own town, move elements around to your liking, and create a community by helping out the locals. Lest you think this all sounds a bit uneventful, there are also dungeons to delve into and puzzles to solve, Stardew Valley-style; in fact, you’ll need to do so if you want to restore the Evertree to its former glory.
Do we have a Grow: Song of the Evertree release date?
You won’t have too long to wait for Grow: Song of the Evertree. Prideful Sloth’s new game is arriving on PC, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and Nintendo Switch on November 16th. There’s no word yet regarding a next-gen version, but you will almost certainly be able to play these games on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S through backwards compatibility. At any rate, this should slot nicely next to your weather-worn copy of Animal Crossing, if you can juggle two endless games at once.
If you wishlist Grow: Song of the Evertree on Steam right now, you’ll be contributing towards a unique and admirable goal. Prideful Sloth and publisher 505 Games say that for each wishlist milestone they reach, they’ll donate to plant a certain number of trees. If Grow: Song of the Evertree reaches 500,000 wishlists, then 10,000 trees will be planted. You don’t even need to buy the game; just put it on your wishlist and you’ll be helping to do your bit for the environment. The devs also say they’ll add Photo and Selfie modes to the game after 10,000 wishlists, so there’s something in it for you when you’re playing Grow as well. If you’re eager to check this one out, you can sign up for a chance to take part in the limited closed beta right here.
