Cyberpunk 2077 Dev Is Hopeful For Successful PS5 And Xbox Series X/S SKUs To Boost The Game’s Sales

Speaking during its financial results for the first half of 2021, CD Projekt RED has said that it’s hoping the upcoming PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions of Cyberpunk 2077 significantly boost sales of the troubled sci-fi epic.

While Cyberpunk 2077 is fully playable on new consoles via backwards compatibility, the native PS5 and Xbox Series X/S editions of the game aren’t coming out until later in the year. These will boast an array of performance improvements, and hopefully, won’t be a buggy mess like the PS4 and Xbox One versions.

Here’s what CDPR had to say:

In the coming quarters and years, the financial results of the CD PROJEKT RED segment will significantly depend on the sales volume of games set in the Cyberpunk and The Witcher universes.

Sales of Cyberpunk 2077 in the coming months will depend on the Company’s production and marketing activities, and the general sentiment surrounding the game. Gamer interest may be affected, among others, by effective technical support in the form of successive updates and patches, the return of Cyberpunk 2077 to PlayStation Store and the release of free DLC content previously announced for 2021.

Sales volume will also depend on a successful release of the dedicated next-gen edition of Cyberpunk 2077, scheduled for the second half of 2021.
