CD Projekt RED‘s newly-announced Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is ‘almost certainly’ getting made with Unreal Engine 5, VGC’s Andy Robinson has pointed out, and suggested it’ll benefit from a smoother release thanks to its partnership with Epic Games.

The Cyberpunk 2077 sequel is known as by its codename of Orion, although it doesn’t have a release date yet and is most probably years away at this point.
Beyond that, CD Projekt RED also has a new trilogy of The Witcher games, the first of which is known as Polaris and will be a traditional story-driven fantasy-RPG. Meanwhile, another of the new Witcher titles is known as Sirius and is being handled by a new team in Boston.
Cyberpunk 2077 was released in December 2020 for PS4, PC and Xbox One, and was later optimised for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S. CDPR recently announced that the game had sold 20 million copies worldwide.
In related news, Marcin Iwiński, the co-founder of CDPR, announced overnight that he is stepping down as joint-CEO.
