Cyberpunk 2077 arguably had one of the most disastrous launches in video game history but appears to finally be on the mend with CD Projekt Red releasing multiple quality-of-life updates, and even a next-generation patch, to improve the experience across multiple platforms.

It’s now got another boost with the launch of the new Studio Trigger anime Cyberpunk 2077: Edgerunners, streaming now on Netflix. As highlighted by PC Gamer, “tens of thousands” of players have apparently returned to the video game version of Night City after watching the 10-episode anime.

According to SteamDB stats alone, over 85,000 in the past 24 hours have apparently played the game on PC. We imagine there are also players on consoles, like the Xbox platform, who are also considering giving the game a second shot.

Of course, CP2077 has also been heavily updated since the initial Xbox release – with the tech experts over at Digital Foundry mentioning earlier this month how the latest patch is “good news” for the Xbox Series X and Xbox Series X. Cyberpunk: Edgerunners is its own standalone story, set in the same universe as Cyberpunk 2077, and stars a kid named David trying to simply “survive” in Night City.
